Strong schools & student opportunity
Support excellent educators, expand career and technical education, strengthen community schools, improve attendance and student supports, and keep every child’s future at the center of decision-making.
Max Green is a public servant, parent, community advocate, and member of the Allegany County Board of Education working to make our schools stronger, government more responsive, and our community a place where every family can build a future.
I grew up in Allegany County in a life that will feel familiar to many people here. My mother had me at 17, and most of my childhood was spent in a single-parent household where money was tight and making ends meet was often a struggle.
Public schools were a lifeline. I received free and reduced-price meals, speech therapy, help covering costs my family could not always afford, and the support of teachers who saw more in me than my circumstances. Education gave me a path forward — and ultimately made it possible for me to become the first in my family to graduate from college.
That experience still shapes how I see public service. I know what it means to rely on the institutions we ask families to trust, and I know how much difference a good teacher, a strong school, or a public program can make when a family is struggling. I serve because I want more people in Allegany County to have the same chance to build a better life.
Allegany County Public Schools, Fort Hill, Frostburg State, and the educators who invested in me opened doors that once felt out of reach.
From community mental health and constituent services to legislative branch work and technology, my career has centered on helping public institutions serve people better.
Since returning to Cumberland, I’ve focused my time on our schools, neighborhoods, civic institutions, and the long-term future of Allegany County.
The work I care about is local: our schools, our neighborhoods, and the institutions that shape everyday life in Allegany County.
Follow the workThe issues are connected: strong schools, transparent institutions, economic opportunity, and neighborhoods where people feel heard and supported.

Make public information easier to understand, invite meaningful community feedback, explain difficult decisions, and expect elected leaders to show their work.
Build the conditions that help families stay and thrive: quality housing, safer streets, strong public spaces, workforce pathways, and a growing local economy.
Use technology, data, and modern service design to make government more responsive — without losing the relationships, empathy, and local knowledge that make public service work.
